We’re now monitoring the availability and response time of key pages on our website using a service called Pingdom. If you’re interested, you can see our last week’s uptime and response time stats at:

The service works by requesting pages on our site from various cities around Europe and North America, and recording how quickly the pages responded and whether any errors were detected. It’ll automatically alert the Spotlight team if anything’s failed or unresponsive – we had a nice little flood of SMS message alerts during the power failure in Soho last week – but it also gives us a great way of measuring the impact of the work we’re doing to improve site speed and reliability.
